Resin Bound Aggregate Surfacing

Bonded Aggregate Paving By Ashlands FencingResin Bound Aggregate surfaces use a UV stable clear polyurethane resin to bind together a mixture of aggregates to give a flat surface with a natural aggregate colour and good structural strength. The resin bound system can be used to give an extremely durable aggregate finish to paths, driveways, car parks and even roads originally constructed from macadam, asphalt and concrete. Resin bound surfacing is thoroughly mixed with its curing agent using a paddle mixer and added to the chosen aggregate. The mixture is then laid and skillfully finished with a float to get the required smooth finish. To finish off we recommend using a good edging detail such as york stone, brick or concrete slabs. Resin bound surfacing is available in a range of colours and textures. We can provide samples to demonstrate the look and feel of the finished product.

Resin Bonded Aggregate Surfacing

Bonded Aggregate Paving - colours availableResin bonded surfacing uses either an epoxy or polyurethane resin to bind an aggregate to a hard surface. The resin is spread over the surface to be paved and then the aggregate is distributed across the top with a serrated trowel or squeegee. The final surface has the appearance of loose aggregate and is extremely durable. The resin bonded system can be used to give an extremely durable aggregate coating to paths, drives, car parks and even roads originally constructed from macadam, asphalt and concrete. Resin bond can also be used to coat wood or metal for attractive non-slip finishes to stairs, decking, foot bridges and disabled access ramps. The resin bond system can be used with most natural aggregates and we can supply a range of resin colours to match the chosen aggregate. Factors affecting choice are colour, hardness and texture. Pathways can use all but the softest aggregates; driveways will require pea gravels, granites or basalts which are more durable. Steep driveways will require an angular aggregate to ensure good grip whilst a driveway likely to have children playing on it may require a rounded pea gravel. Our expert team will discuss the pros and cons of every choice and can show you samples of the various finishes available.

Tree Pit Paving Using Bonded Aggregate

Bonded Aggregate Tree Pit SystemOur Resin bonded tree pits can be used to give an extremely durable aggregate finish to tree pits in gardens, streets, sidewalks and car parks. This provides an attractive, economical and long lasting finish to tree pits – a much better alternative to using gravel or loose aggregate (the stones can’t be kicked away and therefore needing constant maintenance and re-filling. The paving is pourous so the tree can still “consume” rain water keeping the tree healthy, especially important when the surrounding area is paved. The tree pit system can be used with a wide range of aggregates to give the desired finish. Common finishes are bronze pea gravel, silver grey granite, corn flint and red granite.
